5th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development»
The 5th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development» took place on the 29th of August 2019 in the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «State Research Institute of Aviation Systems» (GosNIIAS). The conference was held within the frame of MAKS-2019 — the International Aviation and space salon. The conference was organized by the GosNIIAS.

More than 100 specialists from the leading Russian and foreign aviation companies participated in the event.

Russian participants represented such leading aviation enterprises and companies as: GosNIIAS, Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company, UAC – Aggregation Center, Kamov Design Bureau, Kronstadt Company, «LASEX» Company, TINPHOTONICA, PNPPK, State University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, St.Petersburg Polytechnic University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Research Center «Module», Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, Company «Beriev Aircraft», AVD Systems, Production Association «OCTOBER», State ATM Corporation, «Aviaprom» Company, «Airborne Navigation Systems» Company, Simmetron Companies Group, Medecoergocenter, «IT-Engineering» Company, PLM Ural, etc.

Foreign participants represented such leading companies in the field of the aviation engineering as: THALES, APSYS, ANSYS, TTTech Computertechnik AG, National Instruments, FTS Technologies.

The conference was opened by the Science Director of the GosNIIAS member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Evgeny Fedosov. The unified automated environment for support of avionics design processes developed at the institute was presented by Deputy General Director of GosNIIAS Nikolay Selvesyuk. >>> The upcoming next-generation technologies and computer-aided design facilities for avionics, next-generation highly integrated fault-tolerant architectures and unified hardware solutions for avionics, next-generation aircraft cockpit equipment, new functionality of avionics and general aircraft systems for enhancing aircraft safety and reducing operating costs were discussed at the conference.

The first section was dedicated to next-generation technologies and computer-aided design facilities for avionics. During the first section the following topics were presented. Alexey Syschikov from St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation delivered a speech concerning the technology and tools of functional software development for embedded multiprocessor systems and distributed IMA systems. The next spokesman was Alexander Burkov with the presentation of ANSYS technologies for the development of autonomous aviation systems and aircraft control systems with artificial intelligence. Then there was Artyom Ivanisov from National Instruments with the speech concerning the National Instruments technologies in the implementation of airborne equipment Integration Benches. Dmitriy Zegzhda from St.Petersburg Polytechnic University presented a report of aircraft airborne equipment cyber security research.

The second section of the conference was dedicated to the next-generation highly integrated fault-tolerant architectures and unified hardware solutions for avionics. During this section the following topics were presented. Valery Novikov from GosNIIAS delivered a speech concerning the fully optical on-board network as a tool to build avionics based on DME principles and photonic integrated circuit technology. The next spokesmen was Illia Safiulin and Anna Geissler from TTTech Computertechnik with the presentation of Deterministic Ethernet and IEEE TSN for Aerospace. Then there was Andrew Chekin from GosNIIAS with the speech concerning the integrated into airborne computing environment next-generation general aircraft systems with improved reliability and energy efficiency characteristics.

The third section was dedicated to the next-generation aircraft cockpit equipment. The following topics were discussed. Lev Kuravsky from Moscow State University of Psychology & Education delivered a speech concerning the methods of studying the distribution of visual attention and the state of pilots by means of oculography. Then Alexander Denshchikov from GosNIIAS spoke about augmented reality applications for civil aviation’s human-machine interfaces and virtual reality applications for technical training aids. >>>
>>> The forth section delved into the new functionality of avionics and general aircraft systems for enhancing aircraft safety and reducing operating costs. Gesine Varfis from APSYS delivered a speech concerning how digitalization will change the ways we do maintenance today. Andrew Salov from Sukhoi Civil Aircraft spoke about practical implementation of an ATN telecommunication network for RRJ-95 aircraft.

The 5th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development» was highly appraised by the participants of the event either Russian or foreign representatives of aviation companies. In conclusion, Evgeny Fedosov, Science Director of the GosNIIAS, thanked all attendees for active fruitful discussion and high level of the reports. The conference remains an effective business platform for the progressive innovative research and technology practices exchange. It allows establishing and expanding business partnerships and blazes a trail for further cooperation of on-board equipment developers, manufacturers and operators.
