4th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development»
1 August 2017 The 4th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development» took place on the 20th of July 2017 in the TSAGI Scientists Club. The conference was held within the frame of MAKS-2017 — the International Aviation and space salon. The conference was organized by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «State Research Institute of Aviation Systems» (GOSNIIAS) under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

More than 150 specialists from the leading Russian and foreign aviation companies participated in the event.

Russian participants represented such leading aviation enterprises and companies as: GOSNIIAS, National Research Center «Zhukovsky Institute», ISP RAN, RPKB, NKB VS, NIIAO, MNPK Avionika, VNIIRA-Navigator, Irkut Corporation, UAC Integration Centre, Sukhoi Company, RSK MiG, Rosaviation, Gromov Flight Research Institute, Volga-Dnepr airways, Rossiya Airways, Lomonosov MSU, KNITU-KAI, NPTS Air AviaLogin, Simmetron Companies Group, NIISU, etc.

Foreign participants represented such leading companies in the field of the aviation engineering as: THALES, APSYS, ANSYS, Jeppesen, TTTech Computertechnik, ACTRI, National Instruments. >>>
>>> The first report was presented by Evgeny Fedosov, Science Director of the GosNIIAS, 1st Deputy Director, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He spoke about scientific and technical groundwork for next-generation aircraft on-board equipment program development and paid attention to the GosNIIAS participation in the MS-21 project.

Marc Gatti (Thales) spoke about a new approach to multi-core computing.

The upcoming next-generation technologies and computer-aided design facilities for avionics, certification methods for highly integrated suites of airborne equipment, next-generation highly integrated fault-tolerant architectures and unified hardware solutions for avionics, next-generation aircraft cockpit equipment, new functionality of avionics and general aircraft systems for enhancing aircraft safety and reducing operating costs were discussed at the conference.

The first section was dedicated to next-generation technologies and computer-aided design facilities for avionics and certification methods for highly integrated suites of airborne equipment. During the first section the following topics were presented. Alexander Knivel from Rosaviatsia delivered a speech concerning the aircraft and aviation equipment certification in Russia. The next spokesmen was Yuriy Solodelov from GosNIIAS and Nikolay Pakulin from ISP RAN with the presentation of certifiable on-board real time operation system JetOS for Russian aircraft projects. Then there was Edith Renault from APSYS with the speech concerning the ARP 4761 revision A — Snapshot for aircraft level activities. Alexander Burkov presented a report of ANSYS solutions for designing and modernization of aviation systems. Finally, there was a presentation prepared by Stefan Engels from Jeppesen about setting the Jeppesen NavData standard for aviation data. Also an instrumental system for computation planning in integrated modular avionics complexes was presented as a poster presentation by Vasily Balashov from Lomonosov Moscow State University. >>>
>>> The second section of the conference was dedicated to the next-generation highly integrated fault-tolerant architectures and unified hardware solutions for avionics. During this section the following topics were presented. Vladimir Shurman from NIIAO delivered a speech concerning the unified hardware solutions for MC-21 aircraft IMA computing platform. The next spokesmen was Vladimir Danilov from GosNIIAS with the presentation of integrated CNS radio system based on IMA concept for commercial passenger jet airliner. Then there was Jacques Gatard from TTTech Computertechnik AG with the speech concerning the current techniques, trends and new horizons in civil avionics networks configuration. Then Mu Ming from ACTRI spoke about IMA development in China: current situation, problems and opportunities for cooperation.

The third section was dedicated to the next-generation aircraft cockpit equipment. The following topics were discussed. Valentin Zlatomrezhev from GosNIIAS delivered a speech concerning the evaluation of MC-21 cockpit equipment human-machine interface via prototyping bench. Then Alexander Plentsov from SPC ErAviaLogin spoke about aircraft attitude indicator in 3D-graphics.

The forth section delved into the new functionality of avionics and general aircraft systems for enhancing aircraft safety and reducing operating costs. Yuriy Buryak from GosNIIAS showed a report of Irkut Corporation and GosNIIAS about the automation of MC-21 aircraft maintenance processes via electronic flight bag.

The conference also welcomed as a stand report the information on the international ASHLEY project — the full-scale demonstrator of avionics systems on distributed modular electronics for different types of aircraft, coordinated by Thales Avionics and hosting GosNIIAS as one of the partners. >>>
>>> The National Instruments equipment for hardware-software simulation was also presented at the conference. For instance, dynamic imitation stands of the surrounding radio situation for the MS-21 aircraft were developed by GosNIIAS based on the hardware and software of the National Instruments.

The 4th International Conference «Prospects of Civil Avionics Development» was highly appraised by the participants of the event either Russian or foreign representatives of aviation companies. In conclusion, Evgeny Fedosov, Science Director of the GosNIIAS, thanked all attendees for active fruitful discussion and high level of the reports. The conference remains an effective business platform for the progressive innovative research and technology practices exchange. It allows establishing and expanding business partnerships and blazes a trail for further cooperation of on-board equipment developers, manufacturers and operators.
