Up-to-date design process of avionics/Development process/Integration/

The integration process can be divided into the three levels:
  • SW/HW developer level.

  • IMA integrator level.

  • Aircraft manufacturer level.
At SW/HW developer level — the integration process comes to creation of the sourcecode integrated set, functional SW (FSW) integration with the system HW and FSW, made by several suppliers, integration (fig. 2.14).

The results of the FSW integration process are:
  • integral module, which implements the specified function;

  • FSW component in the binary file form;

  • FSW component configuration table.
The integration process at IMA integrator level and Aircraft manufacturer level is done at the test benches «Electronic bird» and «Iron bird» (fig 2.15). Flight tests complete this process. >>>

>>>  The on-board equipment (OBE) integration testing at the integration bench of the aircraft manufacturer («Iron bird» bench) includes:
  • OBE components integration at the level of their executing functions for the examination of the specifications compliance on OBE functions and requirements specifications for components;

  • FSW and modular HW platform integration and also functional testing (in case that the Aircraft developer is the system integrator);

  • exercising the informational interaction of OBE components by the execution of the test procedures assembly in normal operating conditions, and also in OBE failure simulation mode.
OBE integration process suggests acceptance testing for the every single system and/or the function of application SW and platform’s elements. Next, this process continues with IMA platform and IMA FSW integration for OBE, implemented under IMA technology.

The integration testing of actual systems at the ground («Iron bird» bench) is destined for certification ground testing of OBE functions and systems in the expected operating conditions and during the equipments’ functional failures. At this stage the on-board equipment is being integrated with aircraft systems components and is being installed at the aircraft for tests execution.

The integration testing of the aircraft systems during the flight is done for the actual flight condition testing.

OBE integration process starts from the acceptance tests execution for the every single system and/or the function of application SW and IMA platform’s elements. Next, this process continues with IMA platform and IMA FSW integration. Then the on-board equipment is integrated with aircraft system components at the OBE complex bench of Aircraft developer. Then the on-board equipment is installed at the aircraft for the in-flight tests and is exercised both at the ground and during the flight. The safety requirements test is done for each stage of OBE integration.
